It’s been more than 30 years, since I began my career in education. I started in the Wentworth County school Board as a teacher and a guidance counsellor. When the boards amalgamated into Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, I continued as a guidance counsellor, became a consultant and then served as a Vice-Principal and Principal. There was an opportunity at the Ministry of Education’s Curriculum Assessment and Policy Branch on “Learning to 18” initiatives that I was pleased to accept. In 2007, I transitioned to Grand Erie as a member of the Senior Administrative team.
Throughout my tenure as Superintendent of Education, I held the portfolio responsible for Elementary Program, which included the implementation of the Kindergarten to Grade 8 assessment, evaluation and reporting procedures in the Ministry of Education’s Growing Success directive. I also introduced the Educational Technology Initiative and led the implementation of the Full-Day Kindergarten and Early Years programs.
It’s an honour and a privilege to continue my career as Director of Education for the Grand Erie District School Board working with the Trustees, our dedicated staff, parents, students and community members. I hope to build on the collaborative direction that has led us to where we are today and work to support a continued vision with the Board of Trustees.
